Scrappy Sunday to me, is a day to spend on scrappy projects and focus on my love of creating that I inherited from my Heavenly Father.
Yea I am one of those Jesus people. I am not here to shove it down your throat or in your face, but I am here to show God’s love. I hope by my actions with every person I come in contact to, that His love can be seen. I want to be the lighthouse on the shore, with HIS light shining through, directing others to safety. I am just a building, He is what resides within.
Mark 12:30-31 says, “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”
Hate does not have a place in my life.Â

When I first learned about the tag for #scrappysunday I thought it was just a tag to focus on the projects that use the scraps and left overs of other projects… a way for a knitter or crocheter to use up their main projects trash in a sense. If you look through Instagram for this tag you will be greeted with thousands of projects to inspire you and to be honest that use to fuel my drive to take part in this tag too.
However, as I got older, I have realized that there is so much more to this tag than I had realized. I began to relate my scraps with memories, and those memories as moments of reflection from the blessings of the past. In Genesis we learned about the Creation, Joseph and his coat of many colors and throughout the gospels of Christ’s love in our lives. All of these stories, all these bits and pieces, coming together for something beautiful.
That is what I think about now when I think scrappy Sunday. All those days I thought were a waste, the failed project from 3 years ago, that stupid yarn that that I could not get to match with anything… it all has a purpose and when added in with the other things results in this amazing life – project at the end…
I am a scrappy blanket and my walk is a scrappy blanket. I can look back at all the bad, craft it in with the good and use that to snuggle under His love and His ability to make it all work out.
What does Your Scrappy Sunday mean to you?

Cozy Memories Blanket
This blanket is a very very long term blanket. I am not sure how big I want to make it. I think originally I wanted to make it around 900 squares, yea you read that right lol. I also have not shown this much love lately but I do like to get it out from time to time.Â
This project is being made from fingering weight yarns from old projects, scraps sent to me by friends and viewers and even mini skeins, I pick up from time to time. I am trying my best to keep up with each yarn, where I got it from and if it was from someone I try to link or at least state the project they used it in. This blanket is the blanket I think about when I think of my like as a scrappy blanket. Memories of a little of everything, the people I met on the way and the journey of the past.Â

Sophie's Universe
Ole Sophie. this blanket has been an amazing adventure of learning new stitches but I would be lying if I did not say I was ready for it to be done!Â
I am using so much of my acrylic on this one, some new skeins, some old half ones and some just who knows where and what they are scraps that were given to me.Â
There is actually a crochet along happening right now for this blanket! You just need to check out @keritheyarnyelephant on Youtube for details.
for the yarns I am using, check out my Ravelry page here.Â
My Temperature Snake
This project I learned about late in the game! I did not even start this till around the 13th of the month but I am so glad I did. The Temperature Snake is a pattern by Planet Jane. You can read about it here on her blog.Â
I am using stash acrylic yarns on this one like my Sophie’s but a much smaller hook since it is amigurumi. I recently did a HUGE amigurumi video on my channel that you may want to check out if you love amigurgumi as much as I do. You can see that video here.Â
For this snake I typically just jot down the highs all week and then Sunday sit down and do his wrings. Since they are one round, it is easy to do them in one sitting and this would be a great project to pick up even now since it would be easy to catch up! You can see its project page here where I will be updating photos as the year progresses.Â
So in the comments below tell me about how you utilize scrappy Sunday, if you enjoy scrappy projects and what you are working on.Â
