    Tour De Fleece 2013

kitties like the new wheel too! What is Tour De Fleece you may ask? Well it is the Yarnies version of the Tour de France. You can read about it on Ravelry here : http://www.ravelry.com/groups/tour-de-fleece It is basically when spinners around the world set goals to spin and share their spun yarns while wining prizes from various groups…needless to say it is oh so fun!!! This was the first year I participated in it. I was a little late getting started but it doesn’t matter. This year I not only got a drop spindle but I also got a spinning wheel. The wheel was actually a present from my parents. It…

    Its Been a While

I know its been a while since I shared my lovely little fiber art so I wanted to take the time to do so. It has been crazy as always here…. we registered our oldest for kindergarten, my father in law was rushed to the ER and we have been potty training our youngest. I have still been fitting in crochet when I can and am proud to say I finished some projects. I have been working on a baby shower gift for a sweet lady from Louisiana. She really blessed me a couple years ago by sending me a lot of homeschool materials and I wanted to repay the…

    A Little Catch Up

I have not posted in a while. I deleted my previous post because honestly it made me cry each time I saw it. I have finished some projects since the last post. The scarf below is wonderful. It is from Melissa Grice. You can find it http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hooded-scarf-with-cat-ears-cat-scoodieI used a soft yarn called Marble chunky by James C Brett … as much as I love this yarn and all its softness it was not the best for this project. I will probably remake this one day but use I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby… it seems to hold is shape more.  I did not make the ears for the simple fact…

    Thanks Mom!

Do you see that picture above well that huge lot of yarn was bought for me by my mother! she scored it all at a local thrift store for about $5. There were 2 full 100% wool is a pretty red and some other mixed yarns. I love the color combo of these three. The green is a chunky and the other two are ww. I do not know what I am going to make from them but it will be something for me. I actually have a list of things I want to make but because I am a perfectionist I am constantly redoing things I make. An example…

    Bittersweet

Bittersweet is defined as : something that is bittersweet; especially : pleasure alloyed with pain. There are things all around us that are “bittersweet”. Today they just seem to be appearing more than often. One of the bitter things in our life today is the passing of the sweet dog from yesterdays post. Molly had to be put down yesterday. She was defeated by cancer and a tumor. It breaks my heart that the big pretty pink nosed lab will no longer be relaxing on my porch or sleeping in the field in the sun. She will no longer be there to lay next to the boys when we go…

    Furry Friends and Wooly Blends

The picture below is of Molly. She is my mother-in-laws dog. Molly Has pretty much claimed our house as hers too. We live on about 35 acres with our in-laws and our houses are separated by a huge field.  We have a huge front porch and Molly likes to come sleep on it when its stormy. She has 2 big dog houses but always comes to our porch when there is a storm. I think its because I go out there and pet her and gave her a treat to let her know it will be ok. She is so good with the boys and the most loving and loyal…

    April Showers ….

I Love Spring…I mean what’s not to love. I like the days that begin to get longer. I love how the sun seems to warm the air and my mood at the same time. I love watching the baby squirrels that peek out from the whole in the big tree in front of our house. They are so fun to watch scurry around and playing chase. I love the days of rain and gloom. I love how it washes away all the pollen that tries to keep me inside. The past weekend it was lovely here in Alabama. I am not sure how it is where you are but here in Alabama……
