    My Dawn in the Forest

Hey guys I hope you have a wonderful Summer. School started back last week and I am late on posting. We have had a very easy going summer despite a constant battle with the heat, wood bees trying to eat my porch and yellow jackets building nest and attacking(see photo of hive I destroyed at the bottom of this post). We (my hubby and I) celebrated our 9 year anniversary. He surprised me with a bag of goodies from my local Yarn store. As for the knitting I was not a Stash Dash Finisher but I got a lot of stash knit it! Do you ever have those times your…

    Be Prepared…

Hi Guys I hope you all had a wonderful month and Mothers Day. Things have been going great here despite a few sickness that came through our house. School is wrapping up for my oldest this week and I have been preparing for my summer knitting. I did a little video to show my WIPS, FOS, NEw to the Stash and talked about a few events. Sit back grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the show. Ummm so half way through the video the sound gets off sorry… I am not sure how to fix that. Time to Destash!

Since this is a week late you should have created your plan off attack for your stash, house, drawer, closet…. what ever you are wanting to clean out and get organized. Last week despite having to take my youngest and mother in law to the Doctor for bronchitis I did manage to get a lot done. I even took a bag of yarn to the library and donated and have another ready to go. (these are partial/recycled yarns or I would offer them up to you guys) I was able to clean out the “school related stuff from my room and relocating that to the laundry room and shed where…

    My First Sockhead Hat

There are so many patterns out there that are “common knits” the sockhead hat is one of them. The pattern is written by Kelly McClure. It is a basic hat with rib and stockinette stitch that is a bit slouchy. The pattern is a free download on Ravelry and you can find it here.  Kelly has a lot of wonderful patterns, there are several hats of hers I want to knit. The pattern calls for 437 yards of fingering weight yarn. I went with some Madeline Tosh in the Fjord colorway. I also used a US 3 and made a few mods. I did 3.5 inches of the rib and…

Entrelac Knitting ~ A Review of Gwen Bortner Craftsy Class

Entrelac ~ is a knitting techinque used to create a textured diamond pattern. While the result resembles a basket-woven stripes of knitted fabric, the actual material comprises interconnected squares on two different orientations. (wikipedia online) I took Gwen’s class wanting to learn this amazing knitting technique. I was amazed how the knitting leaned and seemed to have stitches going in different direction. I knew from experience that had to be done with some type of short rows but was not sure how. I was amazed when I learned through Gwen’s class just how easy it is. You would think that would be awesome enough but I learned something else in…

    I am Cowl-azy

I have been bitten by the cowl bug. No not the buzzing kind that flies around livestock but the fun kind of knitting. I love scarfs don’t get me wrong but when you have small kids and you need something you can grab as you are walking at the door to throw on and keep you warn a cowl is the way to go. Cowls also do not come done fro around you neck and fall in to the sink or toilet.. come on you know its happened to you too 🙂 The first one I made was the ever so popular Gaptastic Cowl. Since I used Plymouth Yarn Baby…

    The First Shawl

I am super proud of myself!!! I finished my first shawl in 20 days. That is pretty good considering i have two small people running around calling my name every 5 minutes. I LOVE it by the way. I love the yarn which is Plymouth Yarns Mushishi. It is 95% wool 5% silk worsted. There is 491 yards / 250 grams and it is soft and bouncy. I did not have any problems with it splitting. I have already added another skein to my wish list. I used the grape but would love to get my hands on Pomegrante colorway. You can see all my notes on my Ravelry page.…
