My First Sockhead Hat
There are so many patterns out there that are “common knits” the sockhead hat is one of them. The pattern is written by Kelly McClure. It is a basic hat with rib and stockinette stitch that is a bit slouchy. The pattern is a free download on Ravelry and you can find it here. Kelly has a lot of wonderful patterns, there are several hats of hers I want to knit. The pattern calls for 437 yards of fingering weight yarn. I went with some Madeline Tosh in the Fjord colorway. I also used a US 3 and made a few mods. I did 3.5 inches of the rib and…

An Owlie For Abby
Cancer is never fun and for children is is down right scary. We have a family that has been stricken with cancer in one form or another. My son attends school with a little girl named Abby. Abby is your normal 7 year old that loves to play softball. On April 30,2014 her life was forever changed. She was diaginosed with acute lymohoblastic leukemia. I wanted to make her a little something to show her she was in our prayers and in our hearts. I found out she likes owls so a owl cap seemed like the perfect fit. For the pattern I used a Crochet Owl Hat from Sarah…

Hitch ~ Designs inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock Films
I have been working on the same project pretty much the entire month of may.. It was however my first time to use nothing but charts. the hat is called Exakta by Stephannie Tallent. It is a pattern from the new Hitch book. It is a wonderful book filled with patterns inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock Films. There is even a matching cowl that can be found on Craftsy called the Exakta Cowl. The Hat is worked in the round and has a cabled design with windows. Every one of the windows is designed to have a different pattern inside of it. It is actually a very easy pattern to follow. I am an…

Finished Objects Parade On
Parade on Little Sheep Parade On… I was a busy girl last month. This month not so much. I love spring don’t get me wrong I love seeing all the birds again and all the pretty flowers. However, with all the comes my arch Nemesis “Pollen”. Pollen is my Kryptonite. IT can take me down fast. I have been nothing but watery red eyes, snotty nose and that dry cough that makes you sound like a dying seal. Since my last post I have finished some objects. First I finished another square from the Harmony Knit and Purl book. I talked about the book before. It is filled with stitches…

Ho Ho and some FO's
Wow I can not believe that Christmas is in 3 days!!! I am not happy that Thanksgiving came later this year. It really messed me up. I love Thanksgiving don’t get me wrong I have about 4 totes of Fall/Thanksgiving decor that goes out every year. However, with the mixture of the boys being sick over Thanksgiving holiday and the beginning of December and then last Sunday I was sick, I feel like we missed part of the season. Speaking of December…. it has been cold here. We had several cold nights where we could actually the fireplace. It was so nice being able to knit on my Christmas socks…

I saw a leaf fall, then November was gone.
The weather is a funny thing is Alabama. There was cool days, a few nights of overnight freezes, a week of 70’s and now I am sitting here once again with a fire burning. It is mid 40’s outside but going to 30’s tonight. I have so much to do still before December. I did start to decorate last week, but not the trees yet. I always do the trees the day after black Friday. Did you notice I said TREES as in more than one… try 6! One big one in our living room, a 7 foot in the den, the boys each have their own tree, one in…

Hats Of To Our Troops!
Its been about 10 days from my last post and I am almost to tired to write this today but I hate being behind…It is a early Monday morning here in Alabama. The boys are eating breakfast and soon we will be in the car taking the “kindergartner” to school. Today he has a short week since they are out Friday. The weather here is been a little cooler the last 2 days and I am loving every minute of it. The leaves are starting to change and fall to the ground with each little breeze. This week will be a short week for me since I get to go…

Geeezzzz
OK let me just say that man has this year flown by. We are in August already and summer is soon coming to an end. To many this is somewhat depressing… However for me I am celebrating! See my oldest who is 5 will be attending Kindergarten this year. We were plan on homeschooling him all his school years but he is one of those children that really thrive in a group. He is a natural leader and almost needs that in his daily routine. He loves being around other kids and I think he will do well. We are lucky to have the school minutes away which makes me…

I have a finished Project!
This is the woodside Hat from Lion Brand. You can find the pattern here. My thoughts on the pattern : it was easy to do 🙂 with is a plus especially when you are a newbie like me…. however when it came time to sew it together I was little confused on how to do the very top…maybe I missed a decrease or something. I used a slip stitch crochet style to seam it together… I am not please with the seam but It is not that bad in person. I did not make mine as long as it suggested since it seemed at the time it would be to…
