Scrappy Sunday is my special day to work on creative, scrappy projects and celebrate the love for crafting I believe I inherited from my Heavenly Father.
Yes, I’m a proud follower of Jesus. While I’m not here to force my faith on anyone, I aim to reflect God’s love through my actions and interactions. My goal is to be like a lighthouse—shining His light to guide others to safety and peace. I’m just the vessel; He is the light within.
Mark 12:30-31 reminds us: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.’
For me, love and kindness are central—hate has no place in my life.
When I first discovered the #ScrappySunday tag, I thought it was just a way for knitters and crocheters to repurpose scraps and leftovers from other projects—a creative way to turn ‘trash’ into treasure. A quick scroll through Instagram reveals thousands of inspiring projects that once fueled my enthusiasm to participate in this trend.
But as time passed, I realized #ScrappySunday means so much more. For me, scraps became symbols of memories—reminders of blessings and reflections on life’s journey. In Genesis, we read about Creation, Joseph’s coat of many colors, and throughout the Gospels, we see Christ’s love woven into our lives. These stories, like scraps, come together to create something beautiful and meaningful.
Now, when I think of #ScrappySunday, I see a metaphor for life. The failed projects, mismatched yarn, and difficult moments all have a purpose. When combined, they form a beautiful ‘blanket’ of life that wraps me in God’s love and His power to make all things work together for good.
What does #ScrappySunday mean to you? Share your story and let’s celebrate the beauty in the scraps of life.

Cozy Memories Blanket
This blanket is a true long-term labor of love. While I’m not sure how big it will eventually be, my original goal was an ambitious 900 squares—yes, 900! Though I don’t work on it as often as I’d like, it’s a project I treasure and revisit from time to time.
Made with fingering-weight yarn from old projects, scraps gifted by friends and viewers, and even mini skeins I’ve collected, this blanket is more than just a project—it’s a memory keeper. I’m doing my best to track each yarn’s origin, and when it’s from someone special, I try to link to their projects or at least share their story.
For me, this blanket represents my life as a scrappy quilt—full of memories, connections, and moments from the journey.

Sophie's Universe
Ole Sophie has been an incredible journey of learning new stitches, but I’ll admit—I’m ready to finish it!
This blanket is a stash-buster dream. I’m using a mix of acrylic yarns, including new skeins, leftover half-used balls, and even mystery scraps gifted by friends.

My Temperature Snake
This project I learned about late in the game! I did not even start this till around the 13th of the month but I am so glad I did. The Temperature Snake is a pattern by Planet Jane. You can read about it here on her blog.Â
I am using stash acrylic yarns on this one like my Sophie’s but a much smaller hook since it is amigurumi. I recently did a HUGE amigurumi video on my channel that you may want to check out if you love amigurgumi as much as I do. You can see that video here.Â
For this snake I typically just jot down the highs all week and then Sunday sit down and do his wrings. Since they are one round, it is easy to do them in one sitting and this would be a great project to pick up even now since it would be easy to catch up! You can see its project page here where I will be updating photos as the year progresses.Â
So in the comments below tell me about how you utilize scrappy Sunday, if you enjoy scrappy projects and what you are working on.Â
